Fall Kit Guide - Part 1

Regardless of your location, the weather is changing. This means that if you want to keep riding outdoors, your cycling kit has to change too.

But how exactly does one dress for fall, with its crisp air and brilliant late-season sunshine bundled with unexpected frigid gusts, dismal rains and an ever-lengthening darkness?

Just like a brisk autumn ride, we start our wardrobe selection with a nice easy warm up: a technical base layer. Whether sleeveless, short or long-sleeved, these pieces are an integral part of wicking moisture away from the core and ensuring that damp chill is kept at bay from the inside out.

Check out Pacto’s Base Layer —featuring quick-drying net material—and Givelo’s Super Light Base Layer for optimal wicking and minimal bulk in a piece that will transition your wardrobe through all seasons.

Fortunate enough to live in a locale where temperatures are still comfortably balmy? Both Givelo and Pacto offer arm and leg warmers as an alternative to long sleeve jerseys and bib tights to aid in warming you up without weighing you down. Flat lock seams and silicone grippers ensure a smooth and secure fit under short sleeve jerseys and bibs, and their ability to tuck neatly into a pocket make them a minimal commitment with maximum comfort benefits during transitional temperatures.

Pair with a short sleeve jersey geared towards autumn elements—like a Water Resistant Thermal Short Sleeve jersey.

When the warmers won’t quite cut it, reach for the Pacto Carbon thermal long sleeve jersey and Pacto winter tights. Utilizing a 245 g/m² -250g/m² thermal face fabric coupled with a micro carbon fibre fabric in critical articulation zones, these pieces allow for freedom of movement and uncompromising warmth and protection in temperatures 7 C - 14 C. Reflective hints throughout offer added visibility to motorists during lingering lowlight at dawn and dusk while Pacto’s J-Stability System waistband and CamLockTM full-length zip with protective flap keep your kit in place while keeping the breeze at bay.

Capping off your ensemble with a jacket or gilet (that’s cyclist for “vest”) permits wind resistance, warmth and ventilation to be finely tuned via a simple zip-up or unzip. Featuring Givelo’s proprietary QuickFree zipper technology, the Givelo Gecko jacket and Givelo Gecko gilet allow easy venting on the fly by even the most weather-ravaged digits (though a pair of Pacto Unisex Winter Gloves will guarantee happy hands and functional fingers). Best of all, when the temperatures creep up throughout the ride, both the Gecko jacket and Gecko gilet pack into their own pocket for easy stowaway in a jersey or bag.

Finally, Pacto Unisex Waterproof Shoe Covers keep feet and shoes warm and dry with thermal insulation, waterproof material, and sealed stitching. Heading out in more temperate weather? A pair of neoprene Pacto Toe Warmers will do the trick.

Fall may be here, but the season is far from finished. Make the most of your ride with the right gear, and make the most of your budget by bundling Pacto, Givelo and Obbi products for added savings of up to 10%.
